Xiao-Xin Yan, BM, MS, PhD

Dr.Yan earned his Bachelor degree in Medicine from Hunan Medical College in 1984, Master degree in Neuroanatomy from Hunan Medical University in 1990，and PhD in Neurobiology from Central South University in 2013. He was a visiting scholar to Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in UK from 1990-1993 under supervision by Drs. Laurence J. Garey and Ling-Sun Jen. From 1995 to 2000，Yan was a postdoctoral research associate in Dr. Helga Kolb’s lab at Moran Eye Center in University of Utah, and Drs. Charles E. Ribak’s and Michael Leon’s labs at University of California Irvine. Yan worked for DuPont Pharma then Bristol-Meyers Squibb Pharmaceuticals as a senior research scientist from 2001 to 2004. He served as a tenure-tract Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, from 2005-2010. Yan returned to Xiangya School of Medicine as a Professor of Anatomy in 2010, and currently serves as the Deputy Chair in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology.Yan authored over 90 original research papers, book chapters, reviews and editorials together.
